Join the Truckee Donner Railroad Society for a guided walking tour of Donner Summit's remarkable railroad history. Visit Tunnel 6, the historic Summit Camp, the Lincoln Highway underpass, and other landmarks that helped shape the construction of the nation's first transcontinental railroad.
Along the way, guides share stories of granite tunneling, snow fighting, railroad engineering, and the workers who overcame the challenges of the Sierra Nevada. Participants will also view historic plaques and spectacular mountain scenery while exploring one of California's most significant historic landscapes.
Expect light walking on uneven terrain. Wear sturdy hiking shoes and bring water, sun protection, snacks, and layered clothing.
