Bring a refillable water bottle, coffee mug, takeout containers, and shopping bags. You’ll find Truckee Mountain Filtered Water stations around town—fill up, skip the plastic, and taste some of the cleanest tap water in the nation.

Local Tip: The Town of Truckee banned the sale of single-use plastic water bottles (under one gallon). Luckily, our tap water is delicious and comes straight from the Martis Valley—fresh, cold, and up to 1,000 feet deep.

What you need to know

When exploring outdoors, pack it in, pack it out—including trash, food scraps, and dog waste. Keep nature wild and clean for everyone who follows.

Local Tip: Bring a small bag to take out your own trash and consider grabbing a few stray items you see along the way. It’s an easy way to give back and leave Truckee better than you found it.

Before heading out for the day, turn off lights, heaters, and appliances in your lodging accommodations. Unplug chargers when not in use. Small actions make a big difference.
