Tahoe National Forest Wildfire Mitigation Projects May Impact Recreation Access
Visitors recreating around Truckee this spring through fall may encounter temporary trail, road, and forest closures due to active wildfire mitigation and forest health projects within Tahoe National Forest.
Crews will be conducting vegetation management, tree removal, hauling operations, mastication, and fuels reduction work across several areas surrounding Truckee. Temporary closures are in place to protect public safety during active operations.
Projects may impact access near:
- Highway 89 South
- Big Chief area
- Cabin Creek
- Alder Creek/Prosser area
- Boca Reservoir
- Woodchopper area
Before heading out, visitors are encouraged to check current closure information and project maps through the Truckee Forests website.
