About Visit Truckee-Tahoe
Visit Truckee-Tahoe (VTT) is the official Destination Marketing & Management Organization (DMMO) for Truckee, California. Our mission is simple: to promote, protect, and enhance Truckee as an authentic mountain town—balancing the needs of visitors, businesses, and the local community.
As a DMMO, our role extends beyond marketing. We lead efforts in sustainable tourism, visitor education, business support, and destination stewardship—ensuring that Truckee remains a vibrant, welcoming place for generations to come.
Our Story
Founded in 2020, Visit Truckee-Tahoe began as an evolution of the "Visit Truckee" program, formerly managed by the Truckee Chamber of Commerce. That same year, the Town of Truckee approved VTT to serve as the Owners Association for the 2020–2025 Truckee Tourism Business Improvement District (TTBID).
VTT is an independent 501(c)(6) nonprofit, funded by a 1.25% self-assessed tourism fee on hotel and short-term rental stays within town limits. Unlike the Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT), this fee is reinvested directly into programs that support tourism management, environmental stewardship, and business vitality.
Our initiatives are guided by the Truckee TTBID Management District Plan, which focuses on responsible tourism growth, community alignment, and the long-term health of Truckee as a destination.
Board of Directors
VTT is guided by a Board of Directors made up of local lodging stakeholders and community leaders. The Board meets quarterly to oversee strategy, manage the TBID budget, and ensure alignment with our mission.
