Discover the natural beauty and rich history of Donner Lake from the water during a guided paddling tour with California State Parks.

Participants will paddle aboard 14-foot rafts while learning about the lake's wildlife, ecology, cultural history, and surrounding landscape from knowledgeable State Parks guides. Each one-hour, 15-minute tour includes paddling instruction, a safety briefing, life jackets, and interpretive programming, making it an engaging experience for both first-time paddlers and seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

Tours accommodate up to 14 participants and are open to all ages. Youth participants must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Registration is free and available on a first come, first served basis.

Thursdays, June 11 through September 10, 2026

  • Tour 1: 10:30 AM
  • Tour 2: 12:30 PM

Good to Know

  • Free program; advance registration required.
  • Participants should wear clothing and shoes that can get wet.
  • Bring sun protection, water, any necessary medications, and snacks.
  • Rafts, paddles, life jackets, safety instruction, and guided interpretation are provided.
