Learn how the Carson & Tahoe Lumber & Fluming Company transported timber from the Tahoe Basin to support the Comstock mining district through an impressive network of railroads and flumes.
The tour visits historic railroad grades, switchbacks, tunnel remnants, and former loading areas while guides explain the engineering, history, and lasting impact of these remarkable transportation systems.
Participants should expect several short hikes totaling approximately two to three miles over uneven terrain. Bring sturdy shoes, water, lunch, sun protection, and layered clothing.
