Saddle up for the 51st Annual Truckee Pro Rodeo at McIver Arena! This beloved summer tradition features two days of classic rodeo action, including bull riding, barrel racing, and mutton bustin’. Friday is Family Night, and Saturday concludes with a lively Dirt Dance featuring live music. Enjoy local food vendors, shopping, and multiple bars operated by the Truckee Donner Horsemen Crew. Choose between grandstand seating or bring a blanket for grass seating under the trees. Please note: no outside food, drinks (except water), or pets allowed.

Music will be held on the patio at Rubicon Pizza Monday – Thursday from 5–8pm, and on the Skate Rink stage from 5–8 PM on Fridays and Saturdays, and 4:30–7:30pm on Sundays. New for this season, don’t miss the Saturday Skate Nights, where each week a different themed band will light up the skate rink for an evening of live music as you skate and boogie the night away. Costumes encouraged!

Get your mountain miles in with the 4th Annual Point Mariah Trail Marathon! Hosted by Donner Party Mountain Runners, this high-alpine trail race covers ~26.4 miles and 4,300’ of gain on 85% singletrack through the stunning Royal Gorge trails near Soda Springs. Soak in epic views of the Granite Chief Wilderness and the Pacific Crest.
Choose your challenge: run solo, tackle it as a 2-person partner relay, or round up a 5-person team. All legs start and finish at a central aid station—a festive basecamp for runners and spectators alike. Parking at Soda Springs Ski Resort; shuttles provided.
Located just five minutes from Downtown Truckee on the east end of Donner Lake, Donner Memorial State Park is open year-round and offers weekly, drop-in interpretive programs where you can learn about the natural and cultural history of the Truckee-Tahoe region. In the winter, check out their guided snowshoe tours, and in the summer, they offer guided paddling tours, mountain bike tours, junior ranger programs, historical tours, campfire talks, and park cleanups.

Explore the history of the area and the people who came into this part of the Sierra, including local Native Americans, the Donner Party, and builders of the transcontinental railroad. Visitors can expect to spend about one hour exploring exhibits.
Stroll through Truckee’s storied past on this free, family-friendly walking tour through Historic Downtown. Discover the characters who built this mountain town—from railroad barons and ice harvesters to movie stars and local legends. Along the way, your guide will share colorful tales, architectural gems, and quirky facts that bring Truckee’s history to life. Less than a mile on a flat path, the tour is engaging for history buffs of all ages (but may test the patience of tiny tots). Gratuities welcome!
