The best way to experience Truckee Tahoe isn't through a guidebook. It's through the people who call it home.

Every destination has beautiful scenery. What makes Truckee Tahoe different are the people who bring it to life: the trail builders who care for the paths you'll hike, the business owners who create places to gather, and the mountain guides who help others explore with confidence.

Meet the locals shaping this mountain community and discover the places they love, the traditions they cherish, and the experiences they hope you'll take home.

Matt Chappell

Building trails. Protecting place.

Matt first came to Truckee for one winter to snowboard. Nearly three decades later, he's still here, helping shape the future of Truckee Tahoe through trail stewardship, thoughtful design, and a deep commitment to the outdoors. His story is one of purpose, community, and leaving every place a little better than he found it.

Greg Buchheister

Creating places where people belong.

Greg came to Truckee to open a coffee shop, but what he built became something much bigger. Through Coffeebar and Dopo Pizza & Pasta, he's created gathering places where neighbors become friends, visitors feel welcome, and community grows one conversation at a time.
