The Alpenglow Winter Speaker Series is a beloved Tahoe tradition celebrating adventure, mountain culture, and the athletes who inspire us. Hosted by Alpenglow Sports, this free community event features world-class explorers, climbers, skiers, and outdoor storytellers sharing extraordinary expeditions, personal triumphs, and moving tales from the mountains.

Speaker Series Lineup

  • Dec 5 - Emily Harrington: Emily is one of the strongest and most well-rounded climbers in the world. From competition climbing, to legendary big walls, to the highest peaks around the world, Emily continues to make her mark on the sport and inspire a new generation, including her own son.
  • January 2 - Chris Benchetler: Chris Benchetler’s journey is a testament to the transformative power of intuition, manifestation, healing, and creative expression—a story that intertwines his early life, passion for skiing, artistry, and the profound lessons he’s learned from nature. In this speech, Chris explores the invisible threads that connect us all, sharing how he healed his mind and unlocked new pathways for creativity.
  • January 23 - Mike Hattrup: Mike Hattrup is a highly accomplished skier and industry leader, inducted into the US Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame in 2021. Recognized for his influence in the skiing world, he was named one of Powder Magazine’s “48 Most Influential Skiers of Our Time” in 2006 and listed among the “50 Best Skiers in North America” in 1998.
  • February 13 - John Collinson: The night after skier Johnny Collinson summited Everest, on his way to becoming the youngest person to climb the Seven Summits at age 17, he barely slept; he was too busy helping an altitude sick adult rehydrate and recover. The Sherpas called Johnny “white Sherpa” for his high-altitude climbing ability that has been nurtured since age 4, when he stood atop Mt. Rainier in Washington.
  • March 6 - Dave Nettle: Dave Nettle, cofounder of the Alpenglow Sports Winter Speaker Series, and often touted as one of the best storytellers alive, rounds out our 20th annual season with his presentation of "Backcountry Ski Touring - An Unconditional Love".
