Frequently Asked Questions
There’s hardly a more beautiful spot to celebrate our country’s purple mountain majesties than Truckee-Tahoe! Show your love for our mountain town by helping us keep it clean, green, and trash-free throughout the holiday weekend.
Leave No Trace Helps our Community and Wildlife. Pack it in, Pack it Out!
During the busy holiday week, expect garage bins to be full. Please bring an extra bag with you to pack out ALL of your trash. At the end of the day, bring your full bag back to your home, rental, or hotel, where you can sort trash from recycling and secure waste in a bear-proof dumpster or garbage bin.
Need a bag? Keep Truckee Green will be providing bright orange trash bags on July 4th at the West End Beach shuttle pickup area at Truckee High School.
Thank you for choosing to Leave No Trace! Your actions help prevent litter in our small mountain town and keep Truckee-Tahoe wildlife safe, including black bears. Read the Visitor's Guide to Black Bears and Food Storage to learn more.
Give Back to Our Local Truckee Community. Attend a Litter Cleanup!
Just as satisfying as a post-vacation detox smoothie, attending a local litter clean-up can be a rewarding wrap on your Truckee visit. Giving back to your host community is a feel good way to end your trip, plus you'll get to hang out with Truckee-Tahoe locals and earn some mountain good karma along the way.
Drop into this litter cleanup after July 4th. No reservations or advance signups required!
See a Trash Issue? Report It to Town of Truckee
Use Request Truckee (See Click Fix) to report trash issues to the Town of Truckee.
Read the Visitor's Guide to Boating, Water Recreation, and Sustainability for everything you need to know about spending time on or at the water in Truckee and Lake Tahoe. Remember, you're at altitude - our waters are fed by ice cold snowmelt and mountains make their own weather at elevation.
Just like driving a car, it's illegal to operate a boat under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Make a plan for a designated boat operator before launching into the water. Thanks for keeping the safety of your passengers, yourself, and our community top of mind during the holidays.
Here for the week? Keep the good times and summer vibes going during your stay. We're looking forward to Truckee Tahoe Gravel on June 29, Latitude 39 on July 6, Summer Concert on the Green at Tahoe Donner July 5-6, free live music in the park (Wednesdays) and much more.
