It’s a magical time of the year when the snow melts and summer dirt trails start to open up for hiking and biking, bright purple, yellow, and pink wildflowers bloom, and lingering snow in the high country provides excellent conditions for sunny backcountry skiing and snowboarding.

The only way to describe winter in Truckee, California is a snowy wonderland. The trails open up for snowshoeing, cross country skiing, tubing and sledding, fat tire biking and more. And if you love to ski and snowboard, you’re in luck. Truckee-Tahoe has 7 world-class Ski Areas within 15-45 minute driving distance from Truckee and several nordic centers with over 150 miles of groomed trails.
