Snowshoe Tours depart from the Donner Memorial State Park Visitor Center every Saturday 1pm (weather permitting). This event is led by Park Interpreters and Docents and include short educational stops at beautiful viewpoints including Pioneer Monument, Murphy Cabin site, and natural features. Tours are 90 minutes and cover 1.5 miles of snowshoeing. Be sure to bring your own snowshoes, warm layers, and sun protection. Enjoy!
Snowshoeing Lake Tahoe's Mountains
Experience the natural beauty of the Sierra Nevada Mountains on this tour from 10am-1pm. This tour typically covers 2-5 miles and is easy to moderate. Knowledgable guides will offer discussions on natural and human history, native plants and animals, geology, and local culture.
Sunset Snowshoe Tours
Watch the beautiful sunset over snow covered mountains as you explore new trails on your snowshoes. Learn local natural and human history on this trek that typically covers 2-3 miles. This tour departs based on the sunset time and all abilities are welcome. These tours are every Friday but can be booked any day of the week with a minimum of four people.
Full Moon Snowshoe Tours
Marvel as the wintery world lights up as the full moon rises and learn about the High Sierra from knowledgable guides. As you travel by moonlight, guides will discuss natural history and astronomy topics as well as fascinating facts about our moon. There will also be time to take in beautiful views and enjoy snacks and hot drinks.

Snowshoe Star Tours
Stargazers unite! Join for a guided Sunset Snowshoe tour followed by a telescopic tour of the night sky with award winning astronomer, Tony Berendsen. You will learn about the natural and human history of the area while catching the alpenglow in the Sierra. Tony will also guide you to a viewing point, where he will open your mind to the unknown world above you. Hot drinks and snacks will be served as this tour begins.

Cross off a bucket list ride around Lake Tahoe! Choose from one of two beautiful routes - 72 mile or 100 mile option while supporting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society by fundraising for blood cancer research, patients and their families. Register as an individual or join/create a team.
Truckee's signature gravel race returns on June 29th, 2024! Choose from three scenic and challenging course options in the Tahoe National Forest: Long (75.5 miles, 6,797'), Medium (54 miles, 4,148'), and Untimed (19 miles, 1,193'). Plus, this year the race will offer bonus rides and pre/post event activities with pro gravel riders from Thursday, June 17 to Sunday, June 30th.
Truckee Tahoe Gravel sells out every year so register early. Registration is OPEN now! And book Truckee lodging early to secure your trip while availability and rates are good. Stay for the long weekend and get in on all the event fun, and consider extending your stay to explore all that Truckee has to offer - a quaint Historic Downtown, endless gravel riding, shopping, dining, craft breweries, and much more!
Located just five minutes from Downtown Truckee on the east end of Donner Lake, Donner Memorial State Park is open year-round and offers weekly, drop-in interpretive programs where you can learn about the natural and cultural history of the Truckee-Tahoe region. In the winter, check out their guided snowshoe tours, and in the summer, they offer guided paddling tours, mountain bike tours, junior ranger programs, historical tours, campfire talks, and park cleanups.
